The Year 2020 – as seen by Investment Bankers - Alantra

Despite a complicated context and an uncertain environment where health considerations were legitimately in the spotlight, Alantra recorded an exceptional year in France in 2020 and has become one of the main contributors to the group’s investment banking business worldwide.

Our combination of sector expertise and international coverage, which is unique in the mid-market segment, has enabled us to support major transactions in areas that remained very buoyant in 2020, such as healthcare services and technology.

One of the highlights of 2020 was the successful integration of a 4th Managing Partner, Fabrice Scheer, and the onboarding of Nicolas Senlis as Director. They join a team that now includes 30 investment bankers.

The health crisis has also weakened certain sectors which will need to adjust and consider M&A opportunities. This is the case, in particular, in the aeronautics, consumer goods and retail sectors. We can see that the Covid-19 crisis has reshuffled the cards for many players but, once the shock effect is over, it also leads to multiple opportunities for M&A, whether offensive or defensive. This already shows clearly in our 2021 pipeline.
