M&A REVIEW was founded in 1990 by Prof. Dr. Günter Müller-Stewens and supervised from 1992 to 2016 by the Institute for Business Administration (IfB) at the University of St. Gallen. Since 2016 Prof. Dr. Christoph Schalast acts as editor. Professor Schalast teaches law at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management with a focus on M&A and European law. In April 2020 Prof. Dr. Florian Bauer entered as Co-editor. He teaches Strategy at the Lancaster University Management School, UK, with focus on M&A and Post Merger Integration. As the leading magazine, M&A REVIEW provides specialist articles on company takeovers and mergers (mergers & acquisitions) in German-speaking countries as well as internationally. As part of the reporting, the wide range of topics offers a well-founded overview of current M&A trends, transactions carried out and the stakeholders involved (buyers, sellers, consultants, intermediaries, etc.). The content spectrum of the magazine includes practice-relevant questions along the entire M&A process, analyzes of interrelationships of individual groups and industries, statistical evaluations and country analyzes as well as legal and (tax) legal contributions.

The M&A REVIEW is a mandatory publication for the German-speaking M&A industry and is an integral part of the M&A community through partnerships with leading conferences and associations. With its own website and a monthly e-magazine for mobile reading, the content is also available online.

Since January 1, 2015, M&A REVIEW has also been the official publication organ of the German Association of Mergers & Acquisitions e.V. (www.bm-a.de). The approximately 450 members of the association form an important part of the readership. A dedicated editorial section creates space for association-related topics, news, announcements, member presentations and events.

Due to the many requests for an English-language offer, the English website of M&A REVIEW (https://ma-review.com) went online in April 2020. English-language articles from the past as well as current articles – which are available in English – are now being successively published on the site to meet the demand of the international M&A community. Together with partners, we are looking for interesting formats to further expand this service.

Target group

The M&A REVIEW Print as well as the related Webpage (https://ma-review.de) is aimed primarily at M&A professionals in German-speaking countries. This initially includes managers in strategy and M&A departments of companies (corporates) as well as their corporate management and control levels (board members, managing directors, supervisory boards, advisory boards). The readership also includes management consultants, representatives of investment banks and corporate finance boutiques, as well as partners and employees of auditing / tax consultancy and law firms that are active in the area of ​​company takeovers and mergers. Financial investors – buyout funds, listed investment companies and family offices – also regularly receive the M&A REVIEW. Due to its scientific foundation and university background, the journal is also available in many universities and research institutions.

With the English-language M&A REVIEW webpage (https://ma-review.com), a similar offer can now be made available to the international M&A community.
